FIRE ALARM SYSTEM INSPECTION SERVICES |
One of the most important fire protection systems you can install in your place of business is a basic fire alarm system. A fire alarm system is a quick response method of alerting the occupants in your building of a fire so they can get to safety as quickly as possible. Annual fire alarm system inspections are recommended because system is so important toward keeping you and your staff safe and protecting your building from serious loss.
WHY ARE PROFESSIONAL FIRE ALARM SYSTEM INSPECTIONS IMPORTANT?
First, NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm Code requires that all commercial, plan approved fire alarm systems must be annually tested, inspected, and maintained. Fire alarm systems consist of much more than smoke detectors and the fire annunciation panel. The whole system is much broader, including devices not easily seen. As a result, daily visual inspection is not possible.
During a routine fire alarm system inspection, the various components of your system are exercised and tested to make sure all are in good working order. This includes:
- Inspection of control panel
- Verification of monitoring connection
- Testing all manual pull stations
- Testing all audible and visual devices (strobes and horn)
- Testing door holders
- Testing all smoke detectors
- Testing all duct smoke detectors
- Testing all thermal / heat detectors
- Testing all tamper switches
- Testing all flow switches
- Testing ground fault detection circuitry
- Testing for grounded field wiring
- Testing all loads of standby batteries
